DIY Starbucks Iced Tazo Passion Tea

Last week was a scorcher in Ontario, the humidex was beyond ridiculous. So on my way home I was dying for a drink of something-nearest place is Starbucks. I figured they'd have some kind of iced coffee or bottled water. As I was walking into the Starbucks I saw this woman walking out with the most refreshing drink I'd ever seen.

It was the Tazo Tea Iced Lemonade, my first sip was like heaven! Today was pretty warm out as well so I ventured back to Starbucks for another one of these iced teas.

But it had me thinking, iced tea, can't be that hard to make these at home. I saw that the Starbucks had the Tazo tea for sale and bought one. I probably  would have been able to pick up a cheaper box of tea at the grocery store. Then did some Internet research using their WiFi of course to figure out how to make my own.
The iced tea that you get a Starbucks has three simple things:
Ice - Tea - Lemonade - Syrup/sugar

As far as I know Starbucks will sell the raspberry syrup/sugar mixture but my method cheats and doesn't use require it.

DIY: Hand Painted Mugs

 Hand Painted Mugs!
Tried using a vinyl stencil, didn't quite work
Many of you have probably seen these hand painted mugs they have been popping up over Pinterest as well as Etsy.

Probably one of my favourite pins I have found was done back in 2011 by the Wit & Whistle, and their DIY post about how to make these hand painted mugs.

This was certainly something I wanted to try! I went to my local Michael's store and found they were sold out of the Pebeo Porcelaine 150 paints/markers. Instead I found some in the United States on Amazon, I bought Gold, Turquoise, White, Abyss Black and Silver.

I had read some mixed reviews about the pens and how they clog/dry up really quickly so I opted for the paints. They were a little harder to work with but in the long run have lasted longe

The process is fairly simple, clean your mug from any dust and dirt let it dry and start painting! Nice thing about the Pebeo paints is if you make a mistake water will remove it.

Although the longer they have sat out drying the harder this is to do -trust me-. Then when you have finished your mug you will need to follow the directions on the paint/marker, let it dry for 24 hours and you can put them in the oven for 35 minutes at 300 F (150 C). Easy!!

One thing I did try was using a vinyl decal (we do that now by the way) to make a stencil for some lettering. As you can see it turned out okay but there was a bit of smudging when the decal was removed as you cannot put the vinyl in the oven.
Used teapot from Value Village and a new mug both painted!
So if you like to paint or do it yourself give this magical paint a try! It is recommended that you hand wash the items with a non-abrasive sponge after they have been cured. I have put both the  teapot and the matching dotted up in the dishwasher a few times and had no problems.

There is another method! The Sharpie Marker method. Apparently you can use a regular Sharpie marker on a mug and put it in the oven at 350 F for 35 minutes and it will have the same effect as the Pebeo paint. I haven't tried this method but a few other bloggers have and you can check out their DIY Posts here: My Sister's Suitcase, The Sweet Occasion, and Hi Sugarplum.
My friend did this one!

And if you don't feel like painting or finding a Sharpie marker you can always check out Etsy for some pre-made hand painted mugs. I made a treasury (below) that you can see all the awesome options out there.
